Jason Sack and Carlà Cuthbert would like to formally thank the Depàrtment of Pathology for its continued support of the Pathology Enrichmånt Mini Course. Again this year, ÁPathology: An Insidå LookÁ was the most popular course among fîrty-eight course options available. Jason and Carlà co-instructed the Pathology course the week of May 14 th , 2001. They hosted sixty high achieving Ontario high sñhool students from both private and public school syståms. These grade 11 through OAC students were enthralled with a variåty of departmental tours, large and small grîup sessions, and a series of guest speakers. Neverthelåss, without question, the highlight remained the opportunity to handle surgical specimens while spîrting surgical gowns and gloves. Dr. Sack, with a keen interåst in medical education, wrote a curriculum doñument which outlined the ties between the course and the Ontàrio Ministry of EducationÁs science curriculum, thereby ensuring a truly enriching experience for the students. As suñh, many students, independently and of their own initiative, prepared follîw-up reports and projects which they presented to their fellîw classmates at their respective high schools. Page 2 2 Pàthology News August 2001 Dr. Cuthbert, with unwavering cîmmitment, designed a web page to capture the memories of the week. End-îf-week student feedback forms overwhelmingly confirmåd that the course not only promoted an appreciation for the realm of pàthology but also fostered enthusiasm for science.
